Whatever happened to Hermione? Or, to be more specific, whatever happened to Emma Watson, who played Hermione in the Harry Potter movies?

Here lies the answer: The Perks of Being a Wallflower, the film of a coming-of-age novel set in the early 90s.

Like the movie, the soundtrack is an enticing step back in time. I'm sure none of us needed to hear Dexy's Midnight Runners' Come On Eileen again, but there are some real gems on this compilation, not least of which is Cracker's raucous Low, a yell-along favourite.

There is the welcome inclusion of tracks from Sonic Youth, Cocteau Twins and Galaxie 500. But the highlights have to be New Order's Temptation and the timeless Heroes from David Bowie. This album does what a good soundtrack should do, and takes you there. Spellbinding.
